Description
A 14 inch slice of tree, bark edge left on, painted by hand with pomegranates and the words Shabbat Shalom in Hebrew. Wooden feet are fitted underneath so it stands a little off the tablecloth rather than lying flat.
The challah goes on it Friday night, and the live edge and the painting mean it stays out on the table or the counter the rest of the week. Every slice comes off a different log, so the shape, the diameter and the bark line are never repeated.
