Malchut Chanukah Menorah Table Cover, Leather or Velvet, Five Colors

A cover cut for the menorah table — the small table the menorah stands on for eight nights while oil, wax and the occasional spill go everywhere around it. Two materials are offered. Leather comes in grey, white and brown; velvet comes in white and navy. The difference is practical as much as visual: leather wipes down where velvet does not, but velvet gives the softer, warmer look under candlelight.

Choose the material by how your lighting actually goes. A household with several boys each kindling their own menorah, oil cups being filled at the table, is a leather household. A single menorah lit carefully by one person and then left alone can carry velvet without trouble. Colour follows the room after that: brown and grey leather sit quietly against wood furniture, white leather and white velvet read as Yom Tov, and navy velvet is the deepest of the five.

It is a piece that comes out once a year and then goes away again, which is why it lasts and why families tend to buy one good one rather than replacing a cloth every Chanukah.
