Floral Brocade Challah Cover with Candlesticks and Wheat #250

Candlesticks, challah and floral wheat branches, all embroidered onto brocade in one neat arrangement. Nothing on 250 is raised or set with stones — it is flat stitchwork on a woven ground, which is why it sits at the affordable end of the range and why it does not look overworked. The wheat branches are the detail worth noticing; they run out from the arrangement and give the design width rather than leaving it as a tight cluster in the middle.

Two sizes are cut: small at 15 by 17.5 and medium at 15.5 by 19.5. These are household sizes, not banquet sizes. The medium covers a standard pair of challos with margin and is the one most people take; the small suits a smaller table or a cover kept for a second setting.

Design 250 is also made on navy velvet, which is the darker and more traditional version of the same arrangement, and Malchut cuts the number as a tallis and tefillin bag. The brocade is the lighter of the two and shows better against a dark tablecloth.
