Description
The same menupatz lishmah preparation as the thick set, spun by hand from 100 percent virgin wool, only drawn to a finer strand and cut to 50 cm. Twelve short white strings and four longer ones make up the packet, which is what four corners require. Badatz Yerushalayim supervises the spinning.
Thin strings sit flatter and lighter against the body, which is why many men prefer them on a tallis katan worn all day under a shirt, and why they are the usual choice for a bochur who finds a thick knot bulky. Fifty centimeters is the standard working length for a katan and leaves enough to tie a full set of chulyos without wrestling with the ends. Tying takes the same care either way, so the choice between this and the thick version comes down to how the strings feel once they are on.
A hand spun set at this price is a reasonable step up for someone who has been using machine spun strings and wants the hidur of yad without moving into the far costlier grades.
