Handmade Knitted Gartel with Border, Black Sizes 13 to 36, Velvet Bag

Knitted by hand rather than crocheted, and finished with a worked border running along both edges, which is what separates this from the plainer knitted gartels. The border holds the edge crisp and keeps the band from rolling in on itself, and the whole thing is softer in the hand than a woven silk gartel. Strings finish both ends and it arrives in a velvet bag.

Six widths are offered: 13, 15, 18, 22, 26 and 36 strings across. The narrow end of the range is comfortable for daily davening, while 26 and 36 give a wide band with a lot of presence, and the worked border shows to best effect on the wider sizes where there is more of it to see. There is no separate length option.

This is at the upper end of what Malchut makes in a gartel, and it is bought accordingly, usually as a chosson gift, a milestone present, or by a man replacing a gartel he has worn for fifteen years and intends to replace only once more.
