The widest cut in the #101 gefluchten line: a braided band measuring 6.25 by 38 inches. At that width it covers a serious span of the collar, and the braid pattern has room to show its full repeat instead of being cropped down to a narrow strip the way it is on a 3.5 or 4.5 inch band.

Width is the whole point of this listing. A 6.25 inch atarah wants a full-size heavy wool tallis underneath it — on a lightweight or smaller tallis it will overpower the garment and hang wrong at the shoulders. On a large tallis it does the opposite, filling the collar so the tallis reads as complete rather than as a plain sheet with a stripe at the top. Men who daven in a large tallis are usually the ones reaching for this one.
