Description
The 1804B is a 53.5 by 7.5 inch lulav case, which is full length rather than the cut-down size some cases use. A bound lulav sits inside it completely, spine and top included, and that is what keeps the top leaves from being knocked every time the case goes through a doorway.
You choose whether to have the aluminum lining fitted. The lining is the freshness feature: it holds moisture around the lulav so the aravos and hadassim do not turn dry and brittle partway through Yom Tov. Without it, the case is a straightforward carrier, which is enough for someone who is only walking a few minutes each way.
Think about the trip the lulav actually makes. Out of the house before shacharis, into shul, out again for na'anuim, back in, home for the seudah, and often out to a sukkah down the street in the afternoon. A case like 1804B is what makes that routine possible without slowly wrecking the set.
