Description
Design 1824 arrives with the stay-fresh aluminum lining already inside it, so there is nothing to add on and nothing to decide. The case runs 53.5 by 7.5 inches, full length for a bound lulav, and the lining is fitted through the interior rather than sold as an extra the way it is on the lighter numbers in this line.
What the lining does is straightforward. A lulav starts drying the moment it is bound, and the aravos go first. A lined case holds enough moisture around the set that it is still fresh on Hoshana Rabbah, which is the difference between shaking a lulav you are pleased with all week and one you are apologizing for by Wednesday.
The size is fixed and the specification is fixed — this is a single build, made for a full lulav rather than a short one. It is a case for a man who binds his own set carefully every year and wants the case to hold up its end of the arrangement for the whole of Sukkos.
