Lightweight Kittel with Shoulder Pads, Bekishe Fit #2104

Design 2104 is the plain version of the lightweight bekishe-cut kittel — shoulder pads set in, a shaped shoulder, and no lace anywhere on it. Left to itself, the fabric and the cut do all the work: the pads hold the line across the top and the body falls straight from there without a break.

Sizing is the part worth reading properly. Chest sizes run 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46 and 48, and length runs small, medium, large and X-large as a separate choice. Take the chest measurement over the jacket you will actually wear underneath rather than over a shirt, since a kittel goes on last of all. Then pick the length by where you want the hem to sit, which for most men is just above the shoe.

Poly cotton or linen. Linen is cooler and creases honestly; poly cotton stays flat between one Yom Kippur and the next with almost no attention paid to it. Neither is heavy, which is the whole point of this cut.
