The decision on 2105 comes down to material more than anything else, because the cut is fixed: lightweight, shaped at the shoulder with pads set in, falling like a bekishe. What changes the garment from one order to the next is what it is cut from.

Linen is the traditional answer. It breathes, it has a dry hand that does not cling in a packed shul, and it wrinkles the way linen always has — which most men consider correct for a kittel rather than a fault to be managed. Poly cotton takes the opposite approach: it holds a smooth surface, survives being folded away between yomim tovim, and comes back from a cleaner ready to wear. Chest sizes 34 to 48 and lengths small through X-large are offered in both.

Men who wear the kittel three or four times a year and store it the rest of the time usually take the poly cotton. Men who stand in a warm shul through all of Yom Kippur usually take the linen.
