Description
Shiras VeSishbachos is not a Shabbos booklet in the ordinary sense. It is a collection, over 160 zemiros and songs gathered into one volume. Where a standard zemiros carries the fixed order of the seudah and stops there, this one carries the repertoire, the pieces people actually call for when the table keeps going long after bentching.
It is printed in Eduth Mizrach and that is the only version made. That makes it the natural volume for a Sephardic table, and equally for a mixed gathering where somebody is going to start a song that is not in the four-page selection everyone else has in front of them. There are no sizes, colours or bindings to choose between.
It suits a melave malka, a sheva brachos, or a Shabbos with bochurim at the table, any setting where the singing is the point rather than an accompaniment to the food. The usual arrangement is one of these at the head of the table while the smaller booklets go on doing their job for the fixed parts of the seudah.
