Description
A lucite holder with six birchas hamazon benchers to fill it, sold together as design #240. The stand is what makes this worth having — the benchers live upright in it on the table or the sideboard instead of being dealt around and collected afterward. It also means the set stays six rather than slowly becoming four.
Two finishes, and they are proper alternatives rather than shades of the same thing. The transparent base with gold is nearly invisible on the cloth and lets the gold do the work. The pearl base with silver is solid and opaque, a heavier-looking object that reads more like a piece of tableware than a stand. Nusach is Ashkenaz or Eduth Mizrach, printed through all six benchers.
The #240 design also runs on challah covers and on tallis and tefillin bags, which is worth knowing if you are buying for a chosson or building a Shabbos table under one design number. Six benchers suits a family table; a household that regularly seats a dozen tends to take a second stand rather than mix sets.
