Description
Sterling silver ornaments are set into the velvet face of design 173, with a raised crown above them. The metal pieces are the focus here, and the embroidery around them is worked to frame rather than compete. Silver against dark velvet is a combination that stays sharp, and the ornaments hold their finish better than thread of the same colour would.
Only the size is chosen. The 8.5x9.5 tefillin bag is the single-pair size and comes without stones. The 10x10.5 bar mitzvah tefillin size gives room for a pair with a little space around it. The 14x14 large talis bag takes a standard tallis, and the 16x16 extra large is for a full wool tallis, or for a man who prefers one bag with everything in it.
Design 173 is also produced as a siddur cover and as a zemiros booklet cover. Three pieces in the same silver ornament design, ordered together, is the kind of set a family keeps for years.
