Description
Design 546 reverses the usual proportions. Faux leather makes up the body of the bag and black velvet is set in as insets rather than the other way round, so most of the surface is smooth and only the panels carry nap. For anyone who finds velvet bags too soft in appearance, this is the answer in the same colour.
The bag is made in three sizes: 10.5 by 10 inches, 14 by 14 and 16 by 16. A leather-bodied bag holds its shape better standing on a shelf than an all-velvet one, which is a real advantage at 16 inches where a soft bag tends to slump. The 10.5 by 10 is the bar mitzvah cut and takes a single pair of tefillin.
It also cleans more easily than a full velvet bag, which matters for a bag that goes into a car every morning.
