Description
White fur trim laid across black faux leather makes design 596 unmistakable. Nothing else in this range uses fur, and it changes the character of the bag completely — soft, bright and deliberately conspicuous against a hard dark body. It is the opposite of a bag meant to blend into a shelf of black velvet.
The bag is cut at 10.5 by 10 inches for bar mitzvah, 14 by 14 as a large talis bag and 16 by 16 extra large. Fur trim is not a weekday feature, and most men who buy this one carry it on Shabbos and Yom Tov and keep a plainer bag for the rest of the week. At 16 by 16 it holds a full wool tallis with the tefillin bag alongside.
It is a standing favourite as a chosson bag, where the point is that it should look like an occasion.
