Description
Black velvet, white velvet and black leather all appear on design 633, panelled so each holds its own section of the face rather than blending. The leather gives the hard edge, the black velvet the depth and the white velvet the contrast, and the seams between them are what carry the design.
It is made at 10.5 by 10 inches for bar mitzvah, 14 by 14 as a large talis bag and 16 by 16 extra large. A three-material bag needs room to be read, so the 14-inch and 16-inch sizes show it best; at bar mitzvah size the panels are necessarily smaller. Real leather rather than faux is used here, which is worth knowing if that distinction matters to you.
It suits a man who wants something clearly made rather than simply decorated — the interest is in the construction, not applied to the surface.
