Description
Design 790 leaves the crowns and flowers behind and goes geometric. Gold embroidered bands run squared off across the black velvet, meeting at right angles instead of curving, which gives the bag a modern face while the material stays entirely traditional. Among the 700s it is the one that looks least like everything else on the shelf.
It is made in three sizes: 10.5 by 10 for bar mitzvah, 14 by 14 for a full talis bag and 16 by 16 for extra large. Straight-line embroidery scales cleanly, so the pattern holds its proportions at any of the three rather than looking crowded on the small bag or thin on the big one.
Younger buyers tend to gravitate to this kind of design, and bochurim who do not want their bar mitzvah bag to look like their grandfather's often choose it. It still carries the tallis and the tefillin the same way, and the gold thread keeps it firmly within what any shul expects.
