Description
Design 816 sets bright silver embroidery against black velvet, and the contrast is the sharpest of the silver group. Where some silver designs read grey from a distance, this one keeps its brightness, so the pattern stays legible whether the bag is on a shtender or under an arm on the way in.
The bag comes in the 10.5 by 10 bar mitzvah size, the 14 by 14 large talis size and the 16 by 16 extra large. What decides it is the tallis: a boy's smaller tallis and a new pair of tefillin go into the smallest comfortably, a full wool tallis needs the 14 by 14, and anyone whose tallis is on the heavy side should take the 16 by 16 rather than fight the zipper every morning.
For a bar mitzvah present this is a straightforward choice, since silver reads as less formal than gold and boys tend to like it better.
