Velvet Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Eitz Chayim Tree & Torah Scroll Design #150

The Eitz Chayim tree is embroidered here alongside a Torah scroll, the two motifs worked together across the velvet face. It is a traditional pairing and a literal one — the tree of life and the sefer Torah — and design #150 gives it enough room that both elements read clearly rather than crowding each other.

Five sizes are made: a matching tefillin bag at 8.5 x 9.5, a bar mitzvah bag at 9.5 x 9.5, a medium talis bag at 12.5 x 11.5, a large at 14 x 14 and an extra large at 16 x 16. Black and navy velvet run through the full size range. Maroon, hunter green and royal blue are made in the matching tefillin bag size only, and the royal blue is embroidered in silver.

The embroidery itself is ordered either primarily gold with some silver, or primarily silver with some gold — both threads appear in the design, and you are choosing which one leads.
