Velvet Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Circle in Square Setting Embroidery #185

Design #185 sets a circle inside a square. The geometry is the whole design — a round embroidered form held within a squared frame on the velvet face, with nothing else on the panel. It is the most restrained of the geometric numbers in the range and it suits a man who wants structure rather than ornament.

The velvet is offered in black or navy and the embroidery in silver or gold, which gives four combinations before you even reach the size. Sizes are a single tefillin bag at 8.5 x 9.5 without stones, a bar mitzvah bag at 10 x 10.5, a large talis bag at 14 x 14 and an extra large at 16 x 16. The 14 x 14 is the usual adult order; the small tefillin bag is bought on its own by men who keep tefillin separate from the tallis.

The same #185 design is made as a prayer booklet cover, so a bochur or a chosson can be set up with a matching pair without hunting for something that nearly goes with it.
