Custom #1023 offers four finishes on a black body. Two are patterned leather — black crocodile and black flower-print — where the texture is worked into the leather rather than applied to it. The other two use fur trim: black fur for a monochrome bag, or grey fur for a lighter contrast against the black.

Crocodile is the most formal of the four and the most likely to still look right in ten years. Flower-print leather is the boldest. Black fur is the choice for someone who wants the material change without the colour change, and grey fur splits the difference. All four are produced in bar mitzvah 10.5 x 10, large talis bag 14 x 14 and extra large 16 x 16.

For a bochur going into yeshiva, the crocodile or the black fur are the versions that will not get remarked on. The flower leather is a deliberate choice and it should be made by the person carrying it.
