Design #1045 is one of the numbers that works as a bar mitzvah gift and still suits a grown man years later. The embroidery is from Malchut's custom range and it avoids the two traps that catch bar mitzvah bags — it is neither so plain that it looks like a starter piece nor so decorated that a man of forty would want to replace it.
Sizes are bar mitzvah 10.5 x 10, large talis bag 14 x 14 and extra large 16 x 16. The 10.5 x 10 is right for a bochur carrying tefillin and a tallis katan. Once he is wearing a full tallis after the chasunah he moves to the 14 x 14, which is why some families buy that size at the outset and simply wait.
The 16 x 16 exists for the men whose tallis is genuinely large. If the current bag always closes with effort, that is the size to order and it will not feel oversized after a week.
