Description
Custom #1047 keeps its panel work simple. The embroidery is placed rather than spread, which leaves the surface of the bag doing much of the work and puts the emphasis on how cleanly the design is executed. Among the custom numbers this is one of the more sober choices, and it suits a man who does not want to explain his bag to anybody.
Sizes are bar mitzvah 10.5 x 10, large talis bag 14 x 14 and extra large 16 x 16. The bar mitzvah size carries a bochur through his early years with tefillin. The 14 x 14 is the working adult size for a tallis and tefillin together. The 16 x 16 is the roomier option, and it is the right call for a heavy wool tallis.
Simple designs age better than elaborate ones. A bag bought now will be sitting on the same bench in fifteen years, and the restrained numbers are the ones that still look deliberate rather than dated.
