Description
Custom #1049 is built to hold a full-size tallis together with tefillin, and the design is proportioned with that load in mind rather than being a small bag scaled up. It comes from Malchut's custom line, where the embroidery is worked more densely than on the standard catalogue numbers and the panel is laid out to look right when the bag is packed.
The three sizes are bar mitzvah 10.5 x 10, large talis bag 14 x 14 and extra large 16 x 16. For a bochur the smallest is correct — he is carrying tefillin, not a full tallis. For a man the choice is between the 14 x 14 and the 16 x 16, and it comes down to the tallis: a standard one goes into the 14 easily, a big wool one wants the 16.
It is a sensible bag to buy for a chosson, since he is moving to a full tallis for the first time and the bag he had as a bochur is about to be too small.
