Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Elaborate Custom Design #1053

Malchut builds #1053 at the heavier end of their custom line, and it shows in the amount of work across the front. The embroidery is dense rather than sparse, laid out so the pattern carries over the whole face of the bag instead of sitting in one small panel. It is one of the more elaborate numbers in the range, which is why it prices above the plainer custom bags, and it is the kind of bag a man keeps for twenty years rather than replaces after a few.

Three sizes are made. The bar mitzvah bag at 10.5" x 10" is cut for a bochur carrying his new tefillin and a light tallis. The large talis bag, 14" x 14", is the standard choice for a married man with a full woolen tallis. The extra large at 16" x 16" gives room for a heavier tallis that you would rather fold loosely than force flat. Measure the tallis folded before you choose; men who hesitate between the two larger cuts are usually happier with the 16" x 16".
