Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Crushed Velvet and Fur on Leather, Design #1290

White crushed velvet set into black leather is the version of 1290 that people remember. The crushed pile catches light unevenly, so the panel shifts as the bag moves, and against black hide the effect is striking. The other three finishes are quieter: white leather with black-and-white speckled fur, black leather with black-and-white fur, and black leather with grey fur. All four use the same body and the same clean join between the panel and the surrounding leather.

Sizes are the standard three. 10.5" x 10" bar mitzvah for a bochur with new tefillin; 14" x 14" large talis for a man with a normal woolen tallis; 16" x 16" extra large for a heavy tallis or a bag that carries more than just the tallis and tefillin.

A matching siddur cover is made in the same design. If you go with the crushed velvet, matching is worth the trouble, because that panel is distinctive enough that anything close-but-not-quite next to it looks wrong.
