Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Dark Grey or White Leather, Design #1388

Pure leather, no fur and no velvet: 1388 comes as dark grey or as white, and the embroidery carries the whole design on its own. Dark grey is the more practical of the two, close enough to black to sit with a dark coat but softer in the light. White is the statement version, a bag that reads as a Yom Tov or chosson bag rather than a weekday one. Both are worked directly into the hide.

The bag is cut as a 10.5" x 10" bar mitzvah size, a 14" x 14" large talis bag, or a 16" x 16" extra large. A bochur is comfortable in the smallest; a man with a full woolen tallis needs one of the other two, and the extra large is the one for a thick tallis or for a bag that also carries a siddur.

With no trim on it, this design relies entirely on the quality of the leather and the stitching, which is a fair test of a maker. It is also the easiest kind of bag to keep looking clean.
