Description
Black on black, with one decision to make: a black fur centre or a black velvet centre. Fur gives the middle of the bag depth and a little movement; velvet gives it a flat, matte panel that contrasts with the surrounding material by texture alone. Design #2010 is the same bag either way, and the difference is entirely in how the centre catches light.
Bag sizes are the standard three. The 10.5 by 10 bar mitzvah cut, the 14 by 14 large talis bag, and the 16 by 16 extra large. On the smaller bag the centre panel takes up proportionally more of the face, so the fur or velvet is more dominant; on the 16 by 16 it sits as a band within a larger field.
Velvet is the easier of the two to live with day to day. Fur is the one people reach out and touch. Neither is wrong, and men who own both usually keep the velvet for the weekday bag.
