Description
Black leather with a velvet inset, and the velvet is where the two versions part ways. Black velvet in black leather is nearly monochrome, the panel visible only by its texture and the way it absorbs light. White velvet in black leather is a hard contrast that turns the inset into the focus of the bag. Design #2012 is the same construction underneath; the mood changes completely.
Sizes run 10.5 by 10 inches for a bar mitzvah bochur, 14 by 14 for the standard talis bag, and 16 by 16 for the extra large. Order to the tallis rather than to the look; a bag that is slightly too small stops being a pleasure to use within a month.
The white velvet version is the one that goes to a chosson more often than to a thirteen-year-old, for the obvious reason that light velvet in a yeshiva bag room has a hard life. Black on black is the version that gets carried every day.
