Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Embroidered Malchut Judaica Design #2017

Among the embroidered bags in the 2000 series, #2017 is one of the cleaner faces. The pattern is worked with space left around it rather than filling every square inch, so the eye reads the motif rather than the stitching. That restraint is deliberate and it is what separates this design from its neighbours in the series.

It is made in three cuts. Bar mitzvah at 10.5 by 10 inches, large talis at 14 by 14, and extra large at 16 by 16. The open layout means the design holds up particularly well on the smaller bag, where a dense pattern would crowd itself. On the 16 by 16 it has room to sit properly and looks intentional rather than sparse.
