Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Black Leather Plain or with Fur, Design #2023

Plain black leather, or plain black leather with a band of black and white fur across it. Those are the two versions of #2023, and the difference is how much the bag says for itself. The plain leather is about as understated as this category gets. The fur band adds one line of texture and nothing else.

Sizes are the usual three: bar mitzvah 10.5 by 10, large talis 14 by 14, extra large 16 by 16. On the smallest bag the fur band takes a larger share of the face, so it reads bolder there than it does on the 16 by 16.

Plain leather is the option for a man who has strong feelings about not carrying a decorated bag, and there are more of those than the catalogue suggests. It also happens to be the version that shows the least wear over ten years of daily use, since there is no trim to flatten or shed.
