Description
Black leather with a crushed velvet inset, and crushed velvet is the operative word: the nap is deliberately broken so the panel catches light unevenly and shifts as the bag moves. Design #2026 offers it in black, off-white or grey. Black is nearly invisible until the light hits it. Off-white is the strong contrast. Grey sits between the two and is the one most people underrate.
The bag is made at 10.5 by 10 inches for a bar mitzvah, 14 by 14 for a large talis bag, and 16 by 16 for the extra large. The inset is proportioned to the panel, so on the smallest cut it dominates and on the largest it reads as a centre field with leather around it.
Crushed velvet holds its texture better than flat velvet under regular handling, which makes the off-white version more practical than a light panel usually would be on a bag carried every day.
