Description
The embroidery on #2039 runs across the full front with no plain field held back. Worked that heavily, the thread gives the face its own surface, and the pattern is read as much by the direction of the stitching as by any colour change in it.
The bag is offered as a bar mitzvah cut at 10.5 by 10 inches, a large talis bag at 14 by 14, or an extra large at 16 by 16. The layout is set to the panel it is worked on, so the 16 by 16 is not the small pattern enlarged; it carries more of the design. That is a real difference between made-to-order embroidery and printed goods, and it is the reason the large sizes in this series look right rather than stretched.
For daily use, an all-over embroidered face is the most forgiving finish available here. Nothing crushes, nothing sheds, and it looks the same in year eight as it did in year one.
