Description
Design #5019 stays entirely black on the body and offers two fur treatments. The first is black and white fur, where pale hairs run through the dark panel in clear streaks. The second is a speckled fur, finer and more evenly scattered, which from a distance settles into a soft grey rather than a pattern. Both sit against the same black construction, so the choice is really between contrast and texture.
Sizes are the three Malchut works in: 10.5 by 10 inches for a bar mitzvah bag, 14 by 14 for a large talis bag, 16 by 16 for the extra large. A boy with his first tefillin takes the smallest. A man carrying a folded tallis and tefillin every morning takes the 14 by 14. Heavy wool, a larger set of tefillin, or a tallis katan riding along all argue for the 16 by 16.
The speckled version is the more understated of the two and the one to choose if the bag will be carried on ordinary weekday mornings as well as Shabbos.
