Description
Navy leather is the base of #5022, which already sets it apart from most of what sits on a shul bench. Two fur pairings are offered against it. Navy fur keeps the bag tonal, so the panel reads as a change in surface rather than in colour. Blue fur is the livelier of the two, lighter than the leather and clearly visible against it, and it gives the design a bit of movement without ever tipping into loud.
The bag is cut in three sizes. Ten and a half by ten inches is the bar mitzvah bag, the size a boy handles easily with tefillin inside. Fourteen by fourteen is the large talis bag and the adult default. Sixteen by sixteen is the extra large, and men with a full wool tallis usually find it is the size they should have ordered the first time.
Navy suits a bar mitzvah bochur particularly well. It is unmistakably his, it survives being carried to yeshiva and back, and it does not look like a smaller copy of his father's black bag.
