Velvet Tallis & Tefillin Bag with Column Embroidery (Design #V1280)

Columns give #V1280 its structure. The embroidery is arranged in vertical runs down the face of the bag, so the front reads architecturally — upright lines on soft velvet, with the pile showing between them. It is one of the few designs in the collection where the layout, rather than the density of thread, is the main event.

Three sizes come from the design: 10.5 x 10 bar mitzvah, 14 x 14 large talis, 16 x 16 extra large. Vertical work suits the proportions of the bar mitzvah cut particularly well, and it stretches comfortably across the square face of the two larger bags. Tefillin fit in every size; the tallis decides which one you need.
