Velvet Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Embroidered Panel Design #V3020

An embroidered panel runs straight across the face of this velvet bag, design #V3020 from Malchut Judaica's Custom Velvet collection. Rather than scattering motifs over the whole surface, the panel keeps the stitching in one worked band and lets the depth of the velvet carry everything around it. The nap takes light differently as the bag is moved, so the embroidery reads heavier on the bench in shul than it does lying flat.

Three sizes are made. The bar mitzvah bag at 10.5" x 10" is what a family buys for a bochur receiving his tefillin, before he is carrying a tallis of his own. The large talis bag at 14" x 14" is the size most men settle on, taking a tallis folded in thirds with the tefillin beside it. The extra large at 16" x 16" exists for a heavy tallis gadol with a wide atarah, where the 14x14 would force the folds tighter than you want.

The custom line is where the more involved embroidery work goes, and #V3020 holds up as a chosson's bag set aside before the chasunah, or as the replacement for one a man has carried for twenty years.
