Velvet Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Plain or Fur Trimmed #V3035

Design #V3035 is offered two ways, and they are genuinely different bags. In plain black velvet the embroidery does all the work against a flat dark ground, and the result is restrained. Ordered in black velvet with the black and white fur trim, the same design picks up a Shabbosdik weight — the fur breaks the black up and gives the bag a presence that shows across a room.

Both styles come in bar mitzvah size at 10.5" x 10", large talis size at 14" x 14", and extra large at 16" x 16". The smallest is for a bochur carrying tefillin only. The 14x14 covers most men. The 16x16 is worth taking if your tallis is a large one and you would rather it sat loose in the bag than packed in.

If you take the fur version, treat it the way you would treat any fur: keep it out of the rain on the walk to shul and let it dry naturally if it does get caught. Handled properly the trim outlasts the velvet.
