Velvet Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Custom Velvet Design #V4013

#V4013 is a Custom Velvet design from Malchut Judaica, embroidered over a soft, deep-pile velvet. The character of this line comes from the contrast between the two surfaces — matte velvet that absorbs light and raised thread that reflects it — so the pattern shifts depending on how the bag is turned.

Three sizes cover the range. At 10.5" x 10" the bar mitzvah bag holds tefillin and nothing more, which is what a thirteen-year-old actually needs. At 14" x 14" the large talis bag becomes a daily bag for both tallis and tefillin. At 16" x 16" the extra large is for a full-size tallis that you would rather not fold down small, and it is also the easier bag to get in and out of quickly on a weekday morning.

Velvet of this weight wears in rather than out — the pile flattens slightly at the corners over years of handling and the bag looks used rather than worn. It is a fair thing to expect from a bag that gets opened every day.
