Embroidered velvet, design #V4056. This is one of the quieter designs in the custom collection — the work is there and it is substantial, but it does not shout, which suits a man who wants a good bag without wanting to be noticed carrying it.
Bar mitzvah size is 10.5" x 10" and takes tefillin only. The large talis bag at 14" x 14" is the size most men buy and the one that handles a tallis folded in thirds with the tefillin beside it. Extra large at 16" x 16" is the roomier version for a heavier tallis or for someone who wants everything to slide in without arranging it.
A restrained design also has the advantage of not clashing with a shul full of other bags. If the tallis itself is a striped wool with a silver atarah, a quieter bag lets the tallis do the work; if the tallis is plain, this design still gives the set some presence.
