Description
Leaf motifs occupy the four corners of #470 and a straight embroidered strip runs down the centre, dividing the face cleanly in two. It is a more botanical design than the crown patterns and reads as less formal without being casual — the straight centre strip keeps it disciplined.
Four sizes are made. The tefillin bag at 8.5" x 9.5" comes without stones and holds a single pair. Bar mitzvah size at 10" x 10.5" gives a bochur a little more room. The 14" x 14" large talis bag is the general-purpose size for tallis and tefillin, and the 16" x 16" extra large is for larger talleisim or for anyone who prefers not to pack a bag tight.
Leaf and vine work of this kind is a good choice when the tallis itself is plain. A white wool tallis with a simple atarah pairs better with a design that has some movement in it than with another piece of heavy symmetry.
