Description
Design #85 keeps things simple: petal-shaped embroidery at each of the four corners and nothing in the middle. That restraint is deliberate, and it is why this has stayed one of the steadier sellers in the numbered velvet range — an open centre lets the velvet itself be the finish, and the corner work frames it without crowding.
Four sizes are available. The 8.5" x 9.5" tefillin bag, made without stones, is sized for one pair. The bar mitzvah bag at 10" x 10.5" is the usual first bag for a thirteen-year-old. The large talis bag at 14" x 14" handles tallis and tefillin together, and the extra large at 16" x 16" gives room for a full-size tallis.
A plain-centred bag is also the easiest one to have lettered, since the open face leaves space for a name. If that is the plan, it is worth deciding before you order rather than after the bag has arrived.
