Zemiros Shabbos Sharei Malchus Brown PU Soft Cover #228

A square embossed design pressed into brown PU soft leather, with silver stamping down the spine reading Zemiros Shabbos Sharei Malchus. Ninety-six pages at 4.5 by 6.25 inches. The embossing is the only ornament on the face, no printed pattern and no border, just the shape worked into the material itself.

Ashkenaz or Eduth Mizrach. The contents are the full seudah and then some: candle lighting, kiddush, zemiros for Friday night and Shabbos day, seder havdalah, birchas hamazon, sheva brachos and al hamichya, plus songs that are not tied to Shabbos at all and get used at a melave malka or a kiddush as readily as at the table.

The silver spine stamping matters more than it sounds like it should. A soft-cover zemiros ends up lying flat in a pile with three others, and a stamped spine is how you find yours without opening all four. Brown is the version most men take for their own use; the same #228 is made in white for a table set in light colours, and both seat in a zemiros holder.
