Description
The #1557 design in antique bronze, holding the Oiz VeHudar machzorim. What sets this frame apart is how it wears: the leather is finished to look aged from the outset, so the darkening at the spine and along the fore edge that comes from years of use reads as character instead of damage. A set bought this year still looks correct after a decade of Yomim Noraim.
These are heavy-use books. Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur mean the machzor is open in a man's hands for most of the day, carried to shul and back, set down on a shtender and picked up again. That is the case leather binding was made for, and it is why a set like this gets bought once.
The #1557 frame is also produced as tallis and tefillin bags, siddur covers, haggadah covers and document holders — the broadest range of any design in this group. A man can get his bag, his siddur and his machzorim in one leather, which is not something you can assemble from separate sources.
