Description
The 1820 is a rigid esrog case measuring 7.5 by 4 by 3.5 inches. Rigid is the whole point: the walls carry the load instead of the esrog, so a bag set on top of the case, or a case set down harder than intended, never reaches the fruit inside. It is one of the numbered designs in the Malchut Sukkos range, so the 1820 look is consistent from year to year.
The handle snaps on and off, which is more useful than it sounds. Snapped on, you carry the esrog box and the lulav holder together without juggling. Snapped off, the case has a low flat profile that fits on a shelf, in a bag, or in the space in front of you in shul where there is never enough room on Yom Tov.
There is no size choice to make and no options to configure — the case comes as it is built. For a household that buys a serious esrog and wants it to arrive at shul in the same condition it left the house, that simplicity is the appeal.
