Description
Design 1820 in the soft build gives the esrog a padded case instead of a rigid box, at the same 7.5 by 4 by 3.5 inches as the hard version. The difference is felt rather than seen: the case is lighter, it has some give, and it takes up less room in a bag that is already carrying a machzor and a lulav.
The snap-on handle is included, so the case still carries cleanly on the walk to shul and still strips down to a flat parcel once you are in your seat. Nothing is configurable here — one size, one build, sized for a full esrog.
Buyers usually reach for the soft 1820 for one of two reasons. Either the esrog does not travel much and a lighter case is simply more comfortable to hold, or a second case is wanted for a bochur or a guest who is bringing his own esrog for the week. For an esrog that gets carried in a packed bag every day, the hard 1820 is the more protective option.
