Description
This is 1840 built soft: the esrog sits in a padded case measuring 7.5 by 4 by 3.5 inches, with the same outline as the rigid version but far less weight to it. It is the sort of case that goes into a bag without complaint and comes out without having reshaped everything around it.
The snap-on handle is on this one too, which is what makes a soft case practical on Sukkos morning — clip it on and the esrog travels in one hand with the lulav in the other, then unclip it so nothing is dangling off the box in shul. One size, cut for a full esrog.
Design 1840 also runs as a megillah case, so the number does not end with Sukkos. It is a sensible starting point for a family building a set gradually: a soft esrog case now, the matching megillah case before Purim, and the same design tying the two together on the shelf.
