Description
The tall bencher — 12 inches high by 7 wide, an upright narrow format rather than the usual square. Eight transparent lucite panels in design #203, with gold or silver detail. The proportion is doing real work here: a tall page holds long lines of text without breaking them, so birchas hamazon flows the way it reads instead of being chopped into short columns, and the narrow width takes up very little of the place setting.
Ashkenaz or Eduth Mizrach for the whole set of eight. The height also means the card stands well against a plate or a challah board and can be read at a glance from across the table, which is the point at a long Shabbos table where people are seated far apart. Transparent lucite keeps the weight down despite the size.
These suit a household that hosts often and wants the bentschen visible rather than tucked beside every plate. They wipe clean, they do not crease, and they come back out looking the same on the fiftieth Shabbos as on the first.
