Description
The square scroll is exactly that — a squared body rather than a round tube — and design 1240 does it in black leather with gold. The gold is used as detail against the leather, not as a field, so it catches light at the corners and along the edges, where a round case would have nothing to catch on.
It is built at 17.7 inches and at 14 inches. The long case is standard for a full megillah, the short one for a compact scroll. Both come with the personalized snap-on handle, which clips off completely — worth knowing on a squared case, because it sits flat and stable on a shtender in a way a round tube never quite does.
1240 is also produced as a tallis and tefillin bag. Black leather with gold on both is a combination that reads as a set from across a room, which is the point of buying by design number rather than one piece at a time.
