Quilted Velvet Tallis & Tefillin Bag, Corner Pattern Design #130

The velvet on this one is quilted, which changes the whole surface: instead of a flat pile you have a pattern of raised sections across the face, and the corner embroidery sits on top of that texture. The design itself is deliberately simple, and the word Talis is embroidered to finish it — which tells you plainly what this bag is meant to carry.

Black and navy are the standard velvets. Hunter green, royal blue and maroon are made in the bar mitzvah and medium talis bag sizes only, with the royal blue embroidered in silver. The size range runs from a matching tefillin bag at 8.5 x 9.5 and a bar mitzvah bag at 9.5 x 9.5, through the medium talis bag at 12.5 x 11.5, to the large 14 x 14 and extra large 16 x 16.

Thread is ordered as primarily gold with some silver, or primarily silver with some gold. The quilting gives the bag body, which is worth knowing if the bag tends to sit rather than hang.
